My Many Colored Days!

The Awesome Ants had a fANTastic second day learning their colors. To start off the morning we reviewed some of the colors we learned yesterday and sang the Ant Song! Next, we made our way out to the playground where we played with our friends in the sand box, on the rock wall, and in the slides.

After our adventure outside we read the book "My Many Colored Days" by Dr. Seuss. In the book we got to see our colors again, and see how colors can make us feel certain ways. We talked about how some days are sad and blue, while others are bright and cheerful, like the color yellow. We saw "buzzzy" yellow bees, quiet green fish in the sea, and slow brown bears! We all got to take a turn to go up and match our colored person to the color board!

During science, we investigated to see if our color jar would mix the colors together or not! First, we added yellow vegetable oil to fill half of the jar. Next we added pink dish detergent to make another layer. We shook up the jar and predicted if the colors would stay the same. We waited to see what happened to the colors, and in the end we saw that they did not mix but stayed different layers of liquid. We mixed it around again with a spoon to see if we could get the colors to blend together, but they still stayed pink and yellow!

In art today, we all got to make our very own squishy paint bag! We each chose two colors of the primary colors to see how colors mix to form other colors. Some of us really enjoyed getting to smear the paint around the bag with our fingers and popsicle stick. In the end, we all had our own unique colored bag to take home with us!

After art we played at centers in the kitchen, with the trains and with the legos! It seems like the trains were a big hit!

Don't forget to wear your Speech Garden Camp T-shirt tomorrow!
