We came back inside and got to sing along our Four Seasons song one last time! Next, we read the book The Snowman and we learned all about the different things we see during the winter season. This book talked about a young little boy named James, and his adventure on a cold winter day. He built a snowman and dressed him up with some buttons, a hat and a scarf. When the sky grew darker, the snowman came to life and took James on a flying adventure through the sky. He had the time of his life, but he was so sad to find that he had melted away the next day. After reading, we each got to take a turn to bring up a piece to build our own snowman! Although ours didn't come to life like it did in the book, we sang a few songs to get us excited about the winter season. I'm a Little Snowman was our favorite!
During Science, we got to see what melts ice faster! We had three different ice cubes to experiment with and we used water, salt and sand to see which one melted the ice first. It was so fun to watch the GIANT ice cubes melt. We heard the crackling of the ice when the salt was poured on, but in the end we found out that water melted it the fastest! After getting to feel the ice, our little fingers were oh so chilly!
In art today, we got to make a snowflake masterpiece with some sponge painting! We used some wintery blues and purples and made sure we got some paint all over the paper, so that the little white snowflakes were nice and bright when we were all done! They all turned out so well and we can't wait to take them home on Monday!
We had so much fun learning about the four seasons this week and we can't wait to finish our last week of camp on construction!
